Monthlies is the documentary sequel to the film Month in Us, directed by Diana Fabianova. Fabianova once again focuses on the taboo topic of menstruation. By means of animation and expert explanations provided by gynaecologist MUDr. Maslova, the documentary explains not only the menstrual cycle itself, but also the source of the pain so well-known to women. The documentary also deals with the spiritual aspect of women’s monthly cycle, the significance of the first menstruation in our culture and in tribal societies, and the way it has been understood throughout human history.
