Many people view them as an integral, organic part of lives and households, but what can be said for certain about their way of life? We are talking about cats – pets characterised by a wilfulness that can sometimes irritate their owners a great deal. “Cat scientists” John Bradshaw and Sarah Ellis decided it was time to shed light on the mystery surrounding cats. They chose fi fty out of more than ten million cats living in the United Kingdom and subjected them to an experiment. The cats, all from the same village, wore GPS collars over the course of a week, having their movements monitored 24 hours a day. Some were granted the privilege of being our catlike eyes through specially designed cameras, used by scientists as an ideal aid for seeing the world from a cat’s perspective. Thus the audience can watch them hunt and see their behaviour during street clashes, as well as when just hanging around, and the audience can be fascinated by what they see, due to the scale and diligence of monitoring. The purpose of the surveillance is to answer questions about cats’ daily routines. (official distributor synopsis)
