A fatherless family: two teenagers, a sclerotic grandfather and a seriously ill mother live side by side. During the mother's stay in hospital, the uninvited caretaker of the broken family is Guszti, mother's loafing friend. Where Guszti appears, something is sure to happen. He manages to make himself loved by the sulky family members. If they run short of money for the kitchen, he gets hold of some, although not always by the straightest means. His last trick: an engagement lunch with a cured mother in a renovated apartment. But the jealous and suspicious uncle sends the police over him. Guszti escapes abroad in a taxi. Grandpa falsifies picture postcards with his name to the children, thereby keeping the memory of the great journey promised by him alive in their minds. (official distributor synopsis)
