It is not a “record of a famous performance," but rather a record of the memory of a famous performance. But so what? Jan Vodňanský and Petr Skoumal are one of my favorite author pairs and this is a nice echo of their best work that I know from gramophone records and later from CDs; however, I'll probably never see images of them. In addition, 30 years of being away from the premiere allowed both gentlemen to update the lyrics in 1999, and to improve, whilst also preserve, the unique atmosphere of wittily clever ridiculousness that they have always been known for. I'd give it five stars if it was a complete recording of the evening and not less than an hour, which some idiot probably didn't think was a good idea.
