Mexico has a rich tradition of fantastic myths and figures: the Day of the Dead, the Aztec sacrifices, all different sorts of ghosts, the bogeyman... Well all of them are present in México bárbaro, an anthology motivated by Lex Ortega that brings together 8 local genre film talents to make a series of shorts that display a rich, sinister tableau and gather in the essences of this North American country. English It feels and looks like a (rightfully) forgotten Latino Trash from the 1970s, and I don’t mean this as a compliment. If you are into this kind of poetics, you’ll probably like it. I only liked two or three of the stories, which is very little. ()

English I was looking forward to Barbarous Mexico since the first trailer, but unfortunately it looks like a horror movie from a shabby VHS. The plot is bland and the stories have no twists, everything looks horrible and amateurish, there’s hardly any gore, the entertainment is non-existent and the stories are not very imaginative. Perhaps only the Troll was worth 3*. Compared to Southbound this is a bad joke or a dream. 30%. ()
