Plots(1)

Produced by Studio Bones (Fullmetal Alchemist, Space Dandy, Soul Eater) and created by Trigun writer Yasuhiro Nightow, Blood Blockade Battlefront brings compelling characters and dynamic plotlines together for one unforgettable adventure. After a breach between Earth and the netherworld opens up over New York, humans and creatures from other dimensions become trapped in an impenetrable bubble that surrounds the city. Forced to coexist in a new city known as Salem's Lot, the shaky peace between humanity and the netherworld creatures is protected by an underground group of super humans known as Libra. When a case of mistaken identity brings not-so-ordinary delivery boy Leonardo Watch face-to-face with this group, he joins their ranks hoping to help prevent the destruction of the world by a group of monsters and madmen lead by a powerful being known as the King of Despair. English Definitely not a bad anime. Nice animation, I only skipped the opening twice; on the contrary, I always left the ending on and enjoyed it immensely. The story and characters are kind of average, it doesn't bring anything new, but it doesn't need to be ashamed of its existence. Unfortunately, despite the relatively positive reviews, I was bored with the anime and felt that maybe three or four episodes were fillers, or at least partly. Such an empty nothing. If you want to fight supernatural creatures and don't want to do it for too long, this series is perfect. A better 2 stars. ()

English Season 1 – 80% – It took me quite a while to get used to the fact that despite the constant chaotic outbursts of various characters, I had trouble grasping the essence of the central storyline. Kekkai Sensen is wild, lively, and at times literally and figuratively crazy. But as soon as it calms down or Leo reflects on his own fate or the direction of the entire Libra organization, it's a different story. The atmosphere suddenly speaks to me up close in all possible moods, whether it's the action fantasy of Klaus fighting in the arena or the crazy humor of Zapp. Whether it's the pleasantly unexpected twists or the opening and ending, which make me happy to be part of this otherwise gloomy world for half an hour. Season 2 – 100% – Better in every detail (the background of individual agents) and simply superior as a whole (the escalating tension of dangerous situations) in every way, and therefore one of the most surprising genre rides. Action and humor that are not afraid to slow down and wait or, conversely, unleash unimaginably insane moments one after another. ()

English The ladies and gentlemen at Bones have once again proved their worth, and served up another visual pickle of mostly stand-alone episodes, whose playfulness this time actually impressed me, although they somewhat failed to hit the mark completely for the second time now. However, this should not be taken as criticism, because, as with Space☆Dandy, I was treated to interesting characters, quality artwork and animation, a pervasive atmosphere of unrestrained creativity, and an ode to the animator's joy, a simple subject matter translated into narrative and playful animation. Plus, in the second half of the season, the plot develops really well. When you put this together with a decent soundtrack – meaning both the soundtrack during the episodes and the opening and closing theme songs – the four stars are automatically awarded, albeit a bit weaker this time around, especially as the first half of the season suffers from the same syndrome the second season of Space☆Dandy had. The plot is rather lacking to my taste, and to an excessive extent is too much into playing around with its visual elements, which may be enough to please the audience for one episode, but not over the course of several episodes. However, thanks to the people at Bones for dropping the self-consciousness, starting with the mushroom-like-man episode, and they did a great job of whetting my appetite, which lasted until the end.
