Closer To The Star

The creative documentary Closer to the Stars, made by Antonin Renak and produced by Brno Observatory and Planetarium, shows what needs to be done these days if you want to engage in some stargazing. A group of people venture from Brno to the Canary Islands to purchase high-tech materials for a modern digital planetarium. We come to realize that in these modern times, when it seems everything we want or need is at the tips of our fingers, some of the simple things in life are no longer available. This begs the important question of what is considered to be "simple". Why should we be able to see the stars? This documentary is not only a travelogue about photography, but also a reflection on the connection between science and art. Travelling, engaging astrophotography and the incredible nature of the Canary Islands are the main themes of the film, all of which will bring you closer to the stars. (Academia Film Olomouc)
