Is the importance of food in today's society overrated? Food shopping, cooking, doing the dishes – all of this takes a lot of time. The solution is here – Soylent. Based on the model of the well-known film Super Size Me, the creator of the documentary, Brian Merchant, tries to gain first-hand experience of eating only liquid food made out of the Soylent powder. Rob Rhinehart, the inventor of Soylent, also provides his view on this product. He confesses that the name and the composition was inspired by a powder food used by NASA in spaceflights and by a synthetic meal which appeared in the forty year old sci-fi film Soylent Green, starring Charleton Heston. Rhinehart's intention is not only to help people who do not have time for a proper diet due to their work, but also to solve global problems, such as obesity and famine. But what are the consequences of this nutritional blend to our body? And how will it affect our everyday life? Could it solve the global problems of humankind? (Academia Film Olomouc)
