An imported Russian-Finnish production that is a spectacular journey through a strange world, this bizarre, surreal fantasy was based on a Finnish fairy tale. It follows Lemminkainen, a blacksmith whose sister has been kidnapped by an evil witch; she wants to force our hero into making her a Sampo, a magic mill that produces gold, flour, and salt, and assures its owner wealth. The witch also steals the sun and freezes the world until her dark wishes are fulfilled. (official distributor synopsis)
