Motley's Law

American Kimberley Motley is a lawyer and the only foreigner to obtain a licence to practice law in Afghanistan. Kimberley defends foreigners trapped (justly or not) in the web of Afghanistan's legal and political system. The camera accompanies her closely as she persistently makes the rounds of the authorities to ensure they carry out their duties, and on behalf of her clients, points out the illogic of indictments that often do not reflect either a traditional or liberal interpretation of the law. She does not relent, even under the threat of assassination. Although she originally came to Afghanistan to earn money, not play the role of saviour, eventually she also represents the poor locals who need her help. (One World)
