A Year Without my Parents

When Tareq was 11 he, his uncle, and his cousin escaped from war-torn Syria. After a long journey across Turkey they undertook a dramatic 10-day voyage across the stormy sea to Italy, from there they travelled to the Netherlands. Now Tareq has been in this new country for almost a year, and although his new classmates have accepted him and support him, he misses his parents. He regularly sends them video messages from his new home and hopes that the Dutch government will soon grant them asylum so that they can all be together again. As his new classmates admit, none of them can imagine being so long without their parents. (One World)
