After Spring Comes Fall

Mina (Halima Ilter) flees Syria when the area where she lives is attacked and her husband is injured. Without a residence permit she tries to create a decent life in Berlin and finance her husband's medical care, but the Syrian intelligence agency keeps tabs on her and threatens her into working as an informer. Despite the humiliating situation, she is forced to win acceptance and against all odds keep her head above water. After Spring Comes Fall is a loaded and impressive drama rich in ideas about a young Kurdish woman's horrid wanderings from a war-torn Syria to a tepid Germany. Daniel Carsenty has with sensibility and authenticity made an impressive film about flight, identity and persecution. (Göteborg Film Festival)
