Kerstin Thorvall's novel The Most Forbidden hit Sweden like a bomb in 1976. Was a woman allowed to write so frankly about sexuality and family? The sales success has in time reached the status of a pioneering classic in the genre of confessional writing. The mini-series Det Mest Förbjudna is based on Thorvall's life and work, and shows the fashion designer who becomes an author and rumor-addled celebrity who doesn't let others get to her. Tova Magnusson has directed the series with sensitivity, humor and warmth. Aside from a potent drama about a woman's fight against the patriarchy and herself, Det Mest Förbjudna is also a pleasurable revelry in props and dress from the Swedish seventies. The Most Forbidden is a mini-series in three parts and will be screened in full. (Göteborg Film Festival)
