The Silence of the River

Anselmo is a boy growing up in a shed, without a father, in the seemingly pure nature of the evergreen forest. A river flows lazily nearby, slowly carrying the body of a murdered man. According to the director, the river is "a mass grave and the river of memory" and connects two parallel stories told by the meditative film. While bathing, horrified Anselmo discovers the corpse which blends with the muddy waters, and thus begins the end of his childhood. Down the river, there's an old man whose whole life was marked by the violence which emerges from the forest in the form of armed guerrillas sowing destruction. (Febiofest)
