The Alter Senator - a good gin from Bremen - has a chokehold on an ambitious alcoholic's life. Together they have one adventure after another. Always engrossing, but ultimately also painfully desensitised. He is a true optimist, particularly when drunk. But before you know it he has groped the wrong barmaid.
