Remittance

REMITTANCE follows Marie, a foreign domestic worker from the Philippines, as she struggles to cope with her demanding new employers in Singapore, long hours of work, and separation from her family. Breaking from the conventional image of maids as "labor," REMITTANCE explores the transformations Marie goes through as she gets caught up in the new life she is building for herself in Singapore. At its heart, REMITTANCE is a story about a woman trying to balance her personal aspirations against her family responsibilities back home. (Sarasota Film Festival)
