Life and a Day

Young Somayeh deals with contradictory feelings as she swims in a sea of doubt. Her biggest wish is to leave the family home, in a poor neighbourhood in Teheran, ravaged by drugs, to live her own life. On the other hand, she knows that her sick mother and her little brother Navid depend on her. In a few days Somayeh will marry a rich Afghan man with whom she will leave. Her elder brother's, Morteza, insistence (noble or selfish?) on her starting a new life, as a married woman, has led her to accept the marriage proposal even if she's not fully convinced. The wedding is a way out from her depressing family, with different points of view about the wedding. While she waits, Somayeh deals with the suffocating every day erosion caused by family troubles such as her mother's tiresome disease, Morteza's economic trouble, her other brother's, Mohsen, drug addiction, their environment's prejudices about the clever child Navid, or the impossibility that her other sisters have a better future outside that damned house.
