The film portrays the life of the daughter of King Béla IV. The blessed Margit of the House of Árpád has been raised in the cloister of the Dominican order on the Island of Rabbits since she turned nine. Monks occupy the neighbouring monastery. Jancsi, their gardener, is enchanted by the little royal princess. The feeling of love puts the cross in his hands and the adolescent young lad joins the monks, or the "prisoners of God". Jancsi, growing into frater János, is thus able to live in the proximity of his beloved until her death. (official distributor synopsis)
