English As a person who has seen both movies, it did not take too long for me to decide if I should watch this or not. Little Witch Academia is a very enjoyable anime series that, at first glance, may seem like an animated rip-off of Harry Potter, albeit set in a girls' magical school. Certainly, a lot of those aspects are there, as well as borrowing ideas from other sources (did I really see an animated Cockatrice, or the book "Twilight" which has supposedly been around for a hundred and four years? + there are references to Star Wars, Transformers, and many others.). However, that is just the way it is with fantasy adventure anime series. It is probably not so much about how original this show is, but rather how well it is produced because, after all, that could be original in itself. The main question with any magical school anime series is always obvious - Does it feel magical? I think you should be fascinated when watching something like this, a certain enthusiasm for the world it is set in, its canon. It is hard to describe; it is just a feeling. Anyway, LWA has that magic for me. I like the setting, the characters, the monsters, and I also enjoyed the opening individual narratives. It is pleasantly foolish, and everything I have watched has been fairly action-packed as well, so it was not boring, not even for a moment. Furthermore, these are not stand-alone episodes, as I initially expected. Therefore the main storyline gradually reveals itself and takes the imaginary reins, which is interesting, mysterious and keeps moving the story and characters forward until the conclusion. The ending is crazy, frantic (just the kind of thing I expect from Studio Trigger), and hilarious at the same time. It is simply generally very well produced. Excellent - 9.5/10. ()
