Dubbed by the New York Times as "Israel's Meryl Streep," Ronit Elkabetz died in April 2016 at age 51, after battling cancer. Her magnetic onscreen presence–intense performances and striking looks–were matched by her successes as a director and screenwriter. Her life ended just as her career peaked in the critically-acclaimed Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem, the last in a film trilogy based on the unhappy marriage of her Moroccan immigrant parents. Filmed just weeks before her untimely death, Ronit and her brother and filmmaking partner, Shlomi Elkabetz, reveal their inspired take on one woman's struggle against the injustices of a male-dominated religious society. Other interviews include fellow actors, historians and experts on rabbinical law. (Atlanta Jewish Film Festival)
