Torchy Blane really benefited this time from the intertwining with Chinatown, as it started to work quite well. The story is quite gritty at times, although still within tasteful boundaries, and nothing here should shock anyone. Torchy comes off as a bit intrusive, even annoying at times, but overall, it suits her character, and you can't help but see her as a potential prototype for Lois Lane, as noted by one of Superman's creators, Jerry Siegel.
