Experience the unexpected wonder of one full day on earth. Over the course of one single day, the film tracks the sun from the highest mountains to the remotest islands, from exotic jungles to urban sprawls. Astounding breakthroughs in filmmaking technology bring you up close and personal with a cast of unforgettable characters; a baby zebra desperate to cross a swollen river, a penguin heroically undertakes a death-defying commute to feed his family, a family of sperm whales who like to snooze vertically and a sloth on the hunt for love. This film almost deserves to be without narration, despite the fact that Robert Redford narrated it. They are words that still fail to appreciate what one sees. The shots are beautiful and truly breathtaking in places, but with the narration, it suddenly loses how powerful and intense it is on its own. ()
A beautifully filmed documentary full of breathtaking footage and insights from the animal kingdom, offering a glimpse of a day in the life of these amazing creatures that never cease to amaze humans, whether by their habits, uniqueness or almost daily struggle for their bare lives. My deepest compliments and admiration to the filmmakers and cinematographers! All in all, a very fine ninety-minute excursion into distant and near landscapes that is a feast for the senses. ()
