The Threat of Majin Buu has passed, and Goku and friends are all living in peace. Beerus, the universe's god who oversees destruction appears on Earth. Goku gets his friends help to become the legendary Super Saiyan God, and gets into fierce fight with Beerus, But he's not quite as powerful as the God of Destruction. Beerus ends the fight, and informs Goku of a shocking fact. This universe where Goku and crew live is only one of a total of twelve universes. What's more, each universe has its own God of Destruction, which means there might be opponents out there even stronger than Beerus! Having caught a glimpse of hitherto unknown strength, Goku goes along with Vegeta to train under Whis. During this time, forces of evil attack Earth en masse. Leading them none other than Frieza. To face him, Goku changes into his new Super Saiyan God. A fierce battle once again commences!! (Manga Home Entertainment)

I am not a huge fan of Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z, although I still liked them both. DB was a very funny, cute, and sometimes action-packed show. However, I found it was too long in places, and to this day, I am proud of myself for having made it through. I found DBZ to be quite funny, very interesting, and at times a very epic treat because when it came to action-packed anime series, it was just great, and even all the power crap around it before something went wrong had a lot going for it. However, it was once again sometimes very long and the chances of me ever giving it another go with my workload probably is not much of a goer. I watched the first couple of episodes of Dragon Ball Kai, and it seemed to lack the atmosphere. Plus, the WOW effect I sometimes felt when watching DBZ did not come through. I had not seen the movies, so when I watched "Clash of Gods," I did not have much to compare it to. However, if I get a moment, I am going to watch at least the movie that deals with the God of Destruction Beerus Saga. Anyway, now a few words on Dragon Ball Super. I quite liked the opening part devoted to the warrior god. It is quite witty, although the substance and quality are a bit lacking behind the original anime series (the ones I praised). However, I still found it entertaining. The characters are still fine, and I like them as much as I did when I watched them back in the day, and I have grown quite fond of the new ones (especially Beerus), so I have almost no problem with them. I did not experience anything intense until the ninth episode, dedicated to the main male protagonist's transformation into a "Super Saiyan God," which is probably my favorite so far. Certainly, it cannot hold a candle to the original anime series, even though the pacing, humor, character animation, and soundtrack are all quite pleasing. Plus, when I award something, it is either going to be a better three stars or a worse four stars. Unfortunately, the end was followed by a few episodes that brought my overall impression of this show down again to average. However, perhaps it is going to get better again. 5.5/10. ()
