On Happiness Road

A woman's biographical animation featuring her story through the modern history of Taiwan, similar to the democratization process of South Korea. Lin was born in 1975 when Chiang Kai-shek passed away. As a young child, she moves from Alishan in Southern Taiwan to the Taipei with her parents. They are a poor but strongly supportive family, so is her grandmother. Young Lin grows cheerfully and full of imagination. Although the school forces her to use Mandarin rather than Taiwanese and discriminates against aborigines, she studies hard for the future. Her dreams, which are to work and live in USA, come true, and she gets married and pregnant, but more and more things are unclear, and happiness seems to be drifting away.
