When Elias van Dorne (John Cusack), the head of the world's most powerful robotics corporation, introduces his new supercomputer Kronos in a bid to end all wars and save the planet, the programme quickly identifies mankind as the main threat to Earth's future. After Kronos launches an attack which wipes out most of the human race, mysterious survivors Andrew (Julian Schaffner) and Calia (Jeannine Wacker) surface years later and set out on a perilous journey to Aurora, a settlement where Kronos and its robots can't reach. I really don't like cheap sci-fi because it's too obvious how intimate it is and how it doesn't fit the subject matter. This is a film where basically the extermination of humanity occurs and takes place in a forest and a castle, whereas what should literally be a blossoming here is technology, and what is shown here in a few shots is simply not enough.
