To lend a voice and give visibility to the victims of the Franco dictatorship, to show their testimony, to end with Spanish society's indifference, and to restitute the right to memory and justice are the objectives of Lesa Humanitat, a documentary feature about historical memory and universal jurisdiction. What happens when human rights are violated in a continuous and systemic manner? What if these genocidal crimes happened in the recent past? And, finally, what if laws exist in a democracy that protect impunity and exonerate those guilty of genocide? Universal jurisdiction can be a great motivation to encourage judicial resolutions - and perhaps provide reparation to the victims that have been so defenceless and that have seen their human rights trampled on.
