We Are Kings

We Are Kings is an Afro-futuristic short film that explores the aftermath of a police shooting. In this short film, we are brought into the world of 8-year-old Kwame and his older brother, Anton's imaginary world - a place where the only challenge is to become a king. The story looks to explore the aftermath of family members of shootings, particularly to the most vulnerable; children who have lost bothers, playmates, buddies and role models for the rest of their lives. It looks to show the mystical side of blackness, the innocent and imagination, in a very rudimentary, crude way that may exemplify the innocence of the boys that have been taken too soon.
