It's probably not a series that will knock you on your ass, however if you like Eric, cooking, and the Korean countryside, it's not a bad show. Some of the characters alternately got on my nerves a bit with their hysteria, stupidity, or naïveté, but it always sort of settled down. The main character, you could say, doesn't quite have the traits of a main character, but she's likeable and her acting is somehow doable. Although even in her case, I liked her for a large part of the series, but past a certain point (no spoilers) she bored me. The kid likewise won me over in the beginning with her wonderful, lofty speech and her use of honorifics, but after a while I just got tired of her. Oh, and Eric... not his best role, that's for sure, but I still enjoyed him in every frame. He entertained me when he was cooking, when he was falling in love, pretty much all the time. There IS a number of plot holes and naive twists and clichés in the show, but it also bridges generations and forges friendships regardless of age or blood. And I felt like that was okay in their world. In fact, the naïveté of it reminded me a bit of shows from an earlier era. Nice and sweet, though by no means perfect. 3.5 stars. ()
