Rich, multicolored tapestries dance in and out of the snapping jaws of suitcases, along the decks of ships and along far-flung shorelines as the clatter of industrial soundscapes morphs into irresistible pop confections. Alive with color, gesture, sound and truly bravura editing, this debut feature from acclaimed experimental animator Jodie Mack uses stop-motion animation to playfully explore the movement of textiles across the globe and within the larger web of major international commerce. Patterns dance as the market collapses the difference between the hand-woven and the mechanically produced; swatches and symbols volley and chatter with one another to a staccato beat — all while the film itself becomes a rich, highly intricate and irresistible textile.
