A former American music legend, race has left him washed up as he wakes up broke and alone on a Texas motel room floor. When the motel owner Rosa Lee (Tess Harper) finds Mac penniless and with nowhere to go she takes pity on him, offering him work at the motel in exchange for a room. Desperate to turn his life around, with Rosa's help Mac resolves to salvage both his career as a musician and his relationship with his estranged daughter, Sue Anne (Ellen Barkin). However, standing in his way is Dixie Scott, Mac's ex-wife, a successful singer who refuses to help his career and put him in touch with his daughter. Still shameful of his past, Dixie threatens to ruin Mac's ambitions, pushing him dangerously close to his old self-destructive ways. (StudioCanal UK)
