The Unpromised Land

Two young women are in focus in this moving portrayal of friendship, rebellion and liberation in a summer-green company town in the north of Sweden. Sabina is from Romania and comes to Holmsund outside of Umeå where her brothers have been given work at a garage. She is eager to get a job, but it turns out to be more difficult than she thought. At the same time, Elin’s summer vacation has begun, but for her life is plagued by a tragedy in the family. While madness spreads through the summer idyll, the friendship between Sabina and Elin grows and intensifies. (Göteborg Film Festival)
