In the post-apocalyptic world, the brutal sport of "Jugging", a violent cross between football and gladiator matches, is the entertainment of choice for the hardened citizens. A team of nomadic Juggers roam from village to village, piecing together a meagre existence by earning money in small-time matches, led by the rugged Sallow (Hauer), a disgraced former champion.
