Six Minutes to Midnight is set in Bexhill on Sea where Eddie Izzard’s family is from and where he spent a lot of time as a child. His connection to the town and his success led the Bexhill Museum to ask him to become a patron. On Eddie’s first visit to the museum the curator there, Julian Porter, showed Eddie the school badge from the real Augusta-Victoria College for girls, sparking the whole idea for the film. A cross in the right-hand corner and a union jack in the left-hand corner is an arresting and disconcerting image which piqued Eddie’s curiosity. Through conversations with local historians and the museum he discovered the school was a finishing school for daughters and god-daughters of important Germans. (Lionsgate Home Entertainment)
