English A solid Czech crime movie with an excellent cast. Perepeczko does an unbelievably realistic job in the main role. The first half-hour is a bit like a countryside version of Drive. The demonic old truck has a similarly iconic image like the one in Spielberg’s Duel. And nice cameos by prominent Czech stars of the time as the hitch-hikers. ()

English Jindřich Polák was a great perfectionist and Death of Hitch-Hikers shows it. First, he thoroughly introduces us to the tragic inner workings of the main villain, uses very naturalistic murders to thoroughly disgust us, and resolves everything at the end with thrillingly filmed police action. The final impression is helped by the handheld camera (which doesn't shake like a dog driven out into the cold, as is usual nowadays), the unassuming Marek Perepeczko in the lead role, and Svoboda's sometimes somewhat Morriccone-esque music.
