Bloodsucking Freaks takes you to a bizarre Off-Broadway theatre of the macabre, operated by a deranged impresario. Inside, sadistic entertainments are staged for his audience s pleasure, including tortures, dismemberments, and other gruesome acts which appear to be faked. When people begin disappearing off the streets of Manhattan, the twisted truth begins to chillingly sink in: these horrifying bloodcurdling acts are not theatrical at all. They are real! A guy drills a hole in the top of a shaved head, inserts a straw in it and starts sucking out brains. The victim is a woman tied to a chair, whose teeth he had pulled out earlier. And that’s just one of the scenes this film serves up as if on an assembly line. It’s supposed to be twisted splatter fun, but it’s not. It's just disgusting and perverse. It’s also a case of shitty filmmaking. Boring, primitive trash.

Well, that's Troma showing off. Ninety minutes of utter dreck that makes you gag. It lacks the gallows humour typical of Troma, the entire plot relies on showing as many shots as possible of suffering women and gory abominations committed mainly on women. The script pretends to have something profound to say, but a sane person won't buy it. I'm just puzzled by the high rating on imdb, where a third of people gave it the highest score. Yuck!
