Do Your Thing

I went through something of a lazy-like experience with this movie. Having reached for it after the fundamental enchantment of Lagaan was not the best course of action. Do Your Thing is a film where I can amazingly see how my Indian viewing experience is changing. Whereas a few years ago I couldn't get past the disco scene, today I can enjoy even the smallest details and the pace of the story. Farhan Akhtar has so far developed into a very ambitious director with his two Don films with Shah Rukh Khan. Acting-wise, this is a fantastic all-star film, because nowadays each of the main stars has plenty of fans. Aamir Khan is one of Bollywood's stalwarts, Saif Ali Khan, not only as Kareena Kapoor's partner, is wowing the crowds with his cat eyes, Akshaye Khanna has been rather unlucky but has become partners with the biggest stars - Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai, and Preity Zinta is just a darling. Together with Do Your Thing, we're going to see the beach in Goa and the Sydney Opera House, and that's fantastic! The absolute best song is the self-reflexive hit "Woh Ladki hai kahaan" - or the whole movie theater sings. (22/02/2012)
