De wording

Cherry Duyns was assigned to make this documentary, which was awarded a prize during the Nederlandse Film-dagen last September, by the Paleiscommissie as a gift to Queen Beatrix for her fiftieth birthday. In De Wording the process of coming into being of five works of art is observed that are being made by five Dutch artists: the poetess Ida Gerhardt, the choreographer Hans van Manen, the painter Armando, the musician Reinbert de Leeuw, and the sculptor Carel Visser. Duyns' feat consists of his intimately and respectfully recording the energy, the passion and the tension felt by each of the portrayed artists in the process of working.
