October, 1956. Tomi and Annamari are happy for they do not have to go to school. Father comes back from his job and tells the news that he slapped his colleague's face. Grandma gets some bread in the meantime, the loaf contains two holes hit by bullets, revolution is on in Budapest. The majority of the family is confused, they do not know how to treat the situation, except for grandma, who is an eternal leftist. Everybody does what he/she can. Talking cryptically on the phone they tell the American relatives what is going on here. Mother is about to leave them and the country with a chap called Ákos. They move out, move back. Annamari seems to have whooping cough. One November day the school starts again, but there are some, who cannot attend any more. (official distributor synopsis)
