English Surprising! This mystery is skilfully sustained by a narrative that cleverly switches between the events of three different characters, with a densely dark atmosphere, but also some surprisingly irritating and almost amateurish moments, all culminating in a particularly surprising kick in the ass for hardened genre connoisseurs. English Avoid the trailer and, if possible, go to this blind, as I did. It begins as serious animal survival that puts against each other a family with an alternative lifestyle and a starving wolf. But then the story takes a path different from what most viewers would expect from animal horror, something that the trailer naturally spoils. If I had seen the trailer before the film, I would have surely enjoyed it less, but I didn’t and this was one of the most pleasant genre surprise of the year. The main characters are atypical hillbillies, which also helps. The execution is very good, the landscape is gorgeous, beautiful forests – it’s nice to watch and has a good atmosphere, but it could be a bit more tense. That said, the ending is a chapter on its own, it has balls. Around the 80th minute I was hesitating between strong three stars and weak four, but after the final ten minutes, there are no doubts. English A Canadian animal survival drama about a family of hunters who are tormented by a hungry wolf. Nicely shot and with beautiful nature, Hunter Hunter also captures the attention thanks to main characters, who are not teenagers but seasoned hunters who hunt to survive. I quite liked that strange things start happening in the forest and you have absolutely no idea what is going on. However, the film suffers from a very slow pace and in hindsight not that much happens. The finale with one intense scene is a bit nice, but somehow not enough for a higher rating. Hunter Hunter is definitely worth a watch though. Story***, Action>No, Humor>No, Violence***, Entertainment***, Music***, Visuals****, Atmosphere****, Suspense***. 6/10. ()

English Hunter Hunter is a subtle, yet a surprising thriller set in the woods that packs a decent amount of suspense and a few treats typical of its genre at the end. My relatively positive feelings about the movie were in conflict with my antipathy towards the nimrods, the fur trappers, and characters similar to that, so I cannot say I was exactly rooting for the main characters or cared what happened to them throughout the movie. In any case, Devon Sawa deserves more good roles, as the actor has some serious chops. ()
