In the Brazilian state of Bahia, the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest is plummeting due to industrial farming of eucalyptus trees. In this documentary, we follow two men who fight against the destructive forces of unregulated capitalism: Rodrigo, a leader of the indigenous Pataxó people, and Etevaldo, who at the age of 63 was handed a small piece of land on which to farm. Mata is an intimate documentary which brings the audience in close proximity to the inspiring activists and the senseless devastation it portrays. (Bergen International Film Festival)
