Plots(1)
After the fall of the 1956 revolution, the Man is hidden by his Wife from an expectable death sentence in a hole dug under the duck house. The Man spends here six years, and in addition to his physical and mental deformation, even his family is sickened with endless fear and role-playing. The always suspicious customs guard falls in love with the Woman, which only adds to the tension. Following the general amnesty, the couple are able to walk along the village street unrestrained, arm in arm, but their faces are unalterably deformed and aged, with a stiffness and rigidity that can never be eradicated.
