International Velvet (1978)

English It's a fairly ordinary film about a girl who pursues something she enjoys, follows her dream, and eventually achieves something great despite suffering a significant loss in her life. But the fact that there are actors like Christopher Plummer, who is wonderfully funny, and Anthony Hopkins, who is just plain good, makes it bearable.

I Aim at the Stars (1960)

English A successful film that is not really sci-fi, but it is quite a good commentary on what patriotism is and what betrayal is. In this respect, the film is not outright unique, but its almost noir presentation adds to its atmosphere, which is really good at times. Interesting films are sometimes discovered by people.

Corrode (2011)

English Corrode is another interesting alternative Indian film, demonstrating that India is not just Bollywood but also encompasses other, less mainstream movies that can find their audience by being quite cleverly crafted, intriguingly shot, or otherwise intense. Corrode doesn't overwhelm, but it's not bad.

Fury at Showdown (1957)

English I haven't watched a Western in a while, which in terms of time means just a couple of weeks, but I have to say, this one pleasantly surprised me. It's not exactly unique, but it does have a pretty good plot - there are good guys, there are bad guys, and there are some little surprises in the plot. It could have been a little grittier.

Haripada Bandwala (2016)

English This is exactly the type of Indian movie that I don't really like. I don't mind the songs and the colorful scenes themselves, but what bothers me is how it's all terribly happy, yet meaningless. It's a simple romance interspersed with stupidly unfunny scenes, not to mention the tragic characters who are not entertaining.

Killa (2014)

English Nothing grandiose, no singing, just a film about how difficult it is for a young boy to cope with his father's death, especially at a time when he and his mother move to the countryside, where he is new and knows no one. It's presented in a human, peaceful way, although the drama is still felt in the background, with nice acting performances, especially by the children.

Countdown to Armageddon (2016)

English It's a very over-the-top sci-fi, but only because the creators wanted to impress and captivate the audience with intriguing digital effects. They're not that interesting, but admittedly, they're not too shabby either. It all leads to a rather silly story that aims to be flashy but falls far short of that. A forgettable TV B-movie.

By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953)

English I didn't like the main song right away, and it sort of set the tone for the whole movie, which is a mix of playful and tired romantic comedy with some songs, none of which are strong enough to really captivate you. Sometimes a good joke flashes through, while sometimes you catch yourself not knowing why you're watching it.

Begum Jaan (2017)

English It's nicely captured in terms of the period setting, with visually pleasing scenes, but aside from the opening scene, there's basically nothing here that particularly captivated me. Moreover, what comes after it seems a bit off. The film is too long and doesn't have enough strength to keep the audience's attention.

Evil Bong (2006)

English Evil Bong is classically bad in a Band-esque way, but because it's so hilariously absurd, it's actually quite enjoyable to watch. The characters are not interesting, so Band does the only thing that will keep your attention. Yes, the film contains quite a few scantily clad scenes that make watching it more enjoyable, but it lacks more of the effects that are so typical of Band's style. It's a shame, because the film could have been at least a little more watchable.
