Blue Lock (2022) (series)

English My opinion of football is that it is one of the most boring and overrated sports ever, so I was quite surprised by my own rating. There isn't a boring moment, the characters are interesting and funny, and the psychological games are very unconventional by Japanese standards, where team spirit and friendship are usually the central motifs in sports anime. In the context of shōnen, especially sports shōnen, it is well above average, and can easily be compared to Kuroko no Basuke or Haikyū in terms of quality. Definitely the best one from this studio and the only thing I'm worried about is how the plot will progress in the next seasons. 24/24 - 85%

Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (2023)

English An old-school adventure blockbuster that hasn't been done for at least the last ten years. From every dialogue and skit, you can feel that the authors mainly want the viewer, both knowledgeable and unfamiliar with the lore, to enjoy watching it. The characters are very cleverly written to implement all the necessary ills of a modern Hollywood production but at the same time fit perfectly into any D&D campaign. Although the quality bar was not set too high compared to previous attempts at adaptation, I was still pleasantly surprised and left the cinema satisfied while discussing with friends an innumerable number of easter-eggs in the movie. 85%

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (2023) (series)

English The opening episode perfectly captures the overall atmosphere and flow of the anime. For the first time in my life, I saw a series in which I didn't mind that the story and the plot itself were pushed aside in favor of the perfect conveying the message of the scene and the emotions that the characters are currently experiencing. Fumetsu no Anata e already had a very good start on the theme of immortality versus the transience of human life, until in the next series, quite ironically, it began to lose itself in its own aimlessness. Fortunately, Frieren has so far managed to avoid that problem and is on the track to become one of the most unique projects of today, be it characters, theme, music, animation, or awakened emotions that will remain in you after watching each episode. P.S. YOASOBI and milet FTW. 28/28 - 100%

Link Click (2021) (series)

English It's a very intelligent and original sci-fi thriller. The first season is episodic and slowly builds up the tension and rules of how this world's time travel works to culminate in one of the craziest cliffhangers I've ever seen. The second series has a closed plot of one case, but the building of tension and plot is handled in a similar, if not better, way. All the characters are written very well and easy to like, the animation is at a high level as expected from Haoliners, and the music is chosen superbly. You really can't find anything substantial to criticize here. 24/24 - 100%

Ninja Kamui (2024) (series)

English It's more or less a long promo for a newly founded animation studio. Qualitatively at a high level, with an interesting idea, but unfortunately lacking a bit in content. Shortening by a third and better characterization would help. However, I see a big positive in the fact that the anime was co-produced with the USA and was therefore published simultaneously in Japan and the USA, which creates an easier path for Japanese industry to the global market in the future. 13/13 - 60%

Oshi no Ko (2023) (series)

English I'm always very pleased when a movie or series appears that, despite everything I've seen, manages to surprise me with an original plot and characters. The opening episode is a perfect example of how to create a narrative hook, give the basics of the past to the main characters, and determine their goals at the same time. The criminal plot taking place in the background of other episodes subsequently provides an element of constant tension while the issue of show business becomes the central motif. A topic that doesn't interest me at all, but if it's presented through fully drawn characters that I should care about, then it doesn't matter. Maybe I'll go back to Akasaki's Kaguya, which didn't catch my interest in the first season, and I'll watch the rest... 11/11 - 100%
