Hall Pass (2011)

English I like these comedies very much. They are from life, contain wisdom and advice, and can also be great fun with decent gags. I enjoyed it, I laughed, I want to see it again. 80%.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)

English Adam McKay is a pretty decent comedy director, and he's nicely assisted by Will Ferrel, who's always there for him. I'm not a fan of NASCAR racing, so this plot didn't interest me much, but I was pleased to see Sacha Baron Cohen as a gay Frenchman. There are some decent lines, but the running time is unnecessarily drawn out for a comedy. 60%.

The Replacement Killers (1998)

English I was expecting more from Antoine Fuqua, who lured Hong Kong star Chow Yun-fat into his actioner. It has a decent pace, but the film feels very B-ish and doesn't offer much besides decent shootouts. A 90's B-movie standard that will appeal to few today. 60%

Contagion (2011)

English Outbreak was on a completely different level even though it is 16 years older. Contagion has a solid cast, but it lacks the suspense or climactic contagion scenes. Very light. 55%.

Gotham - Season 2 (2015) (season)

English A great ride for 18 episodes, but the last 4 didn't impress me too much. The creators mixed way too many things with mutated "monster" people, turning a dark crime drama into more of a sci-fi fantasy, which I'm not fond of. Too bad. 80%.

Preacher (2016) (series)

English Preacher has the potential to be this year's number one series, the question is how over the top will the sci-fi elements be? As for the action, it's both very imaginative and decently hard-hitting, with the very first episode offering three solid fights in three great locations (plane, car, pub), but they definitely could have been more brutal. The Preacher himself may have left me cold after the first episode, but Cassidy and Tulip seem like great creatures that could pull the series along.

Zootopia (2016)

English Animated films are one of my lesser favourites and I watched Zootopia before I knew anything about it, and this nearly-billion dollar hit and is indeed a success even for me. The film isn't so much for the little ones, it is a colourful whodunit driven by buddy humour and full of references to better known films that smaller children certainly won't get. It has amazing pacing, beautiful animation, literally breathtaking, all the details and animals look wonderful – the central duo is excellent: the rabbit is hilarious, the fox is properly cunning and smart. And on top fo that, the frequent twists are very unexpected and intelligent. Who knew that underneath the animated veneer was such a polished film that also tackles world issues like bullying and racism. The scene with the sloth is the highlight of the film !!! :) 100%

Banshee - Small Town. Big Secrets. - Season 4 (2016) (season)

English A slight downward slope from the climactic third season. It felt like they skimped on the budget and the action series became more of a depressing and emotionally strained thriller, not that that's a bad thing, but the lack of violence, sex and fights is not a positive card to end one of the best series. I expected the finale to be uncompromising towards the characters, but in the end there weren't too many fallen bodies. 75%

Deep in the Wood (2015)

English Quite successful for the Italians, the film reminded me more of the Scandinavians in its conception, but it was not my cup of tea. The premise is decent, but I was more bored than entertained. The director throws in some interesting twists at the end, but even that couldn't satisfy me enough. 55%
