My Love Story!! (2015) (series)

English At long last, there is a show with a great main male protagonist, not only in terms of size, size of heart, and intensity of emotions. Takeo is a cool guy, and you cannot help but root for him. His character is so original and fresh that it is a total blessing after all the bishies, generic "Takeshis", and male protagonists with the emotional range of a tree stump. Plus, when you are nearly six feet tall and muscular, easily dwarfing everyone around you, you understand certain things and can relate to the protagonist quite easily. Rinko Yamato may be a petite shy girl; however, she is very positive. I found her incredibly cute, plus she also tries, and that is even cuter. Makoto Sunakawa (Suna) is probably not gay; however, he is exactly an example of a classic bored playboy. He has no emotions and leaves most of the girls around in the shade, and this is the type that dominates a lot of shoujo releases; he plays second fiddle and is great. Then there is Suna’s sister, and I happen to be fond of her as well. In other words, I think the characters are great. The narrative feels straightforward and is easy to understand, but it hardly goes anywhere, and apart from the love story, nothing happens. The most interesting thing is that I did not mind it and looked forward to each new episode, so My Love Story!! has maintained the highest rating because this is simply a beautiful show. Furthermore, as probably the more astute among you have understood, the subject matter is quite close to my heart. 9/10.

My Teen Romantic Comedy: SNAFU - Too! (2015) (season)

English I guess it is true that the second season of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU! has gotten quite serious compared to the first, and philosophy and psychology take precedence over all the jokes that were so fresh in the first season. On the other hand, it has to be expected because the "lone wolf" joined a pack and had to build some relationships to be sociable and therefore start to care about others, which he was not used to. He changed. That is probably the main thing going on in this show, and while it is not as funny, I found watching the main male protagonist develop and his struggle with himself, in particular, is still quite interesting. Initially, I was not expecting that, and I was looking forward to my "usual dose of cynicism." I guess that one could even say that I am a bit disappointed because such an interesting male protagonist only turns up sporadically in a slice-of-life anime series. However, the show does not deserve to be awarded only three stars and be labeled "average," in my opinion. 7/10.

My Wife is the Student Council President - Season 1 (2015) (season)

English My Wife is the Student Council President is packed with fan service, a few jokes, and an attempt at some kind of narrative, even though it is not really about that, because this is about completely different "stuff"." In other words, in the first two episodes, the viewer is offered a few minutes of something only to be shown the main female protagonist's breasts at the end. This show is simply "entertainment for the discerning." If it had been twenty-four minutes long, I probably would have slammed it. However, since this running time was relatively acceptable to me, I ended up finishing it, hoping that I would see something interesting and surprising. In other words, I thought it would be something more than fan service. Unfortunately, I did not get that. My final impression of this show is quite weak; there was not much of a narrative, I did not find the characters very easy to like (although they did not annoy me either), the animation did not impress me. It was good as a show to watch just once, although I would not want to watch this "light erotica" again. I am warding a weaker two stars - 3/10.

Niko and the Sword of Light (2015) (series)

English This is a roughly twenty-minute pilot for a possible future flash animated streaming television series if the feedback from audiences is positive. I do not know what to think of it really. The animation is not too shabby, and I even smiled a little at times. However, there are way too many fantasy adventure clichés in this short film. Plus, I could figure out how it would continue, and I had only seen a few minutes of it. So if it were picked up as a full series, I would probably only start watching it if I had a lot of free time because this just did not create that much of a desire to see where it goes next. 4.5/10.

Nisekoi - Season 2 (2015) (season)

English Most of the characters in this show are typical clichéd cookie-cutters because it features a tsundere blonde, the shy brunette, the "fighter" redhead, the smart friend with glasses, and the kinky friend. Simply put, these characters are nothing I have not seen in a harem anime series before. They are all agreeable and I did not find them irritating at all. Two seasons on an I still could not decide whether I would rather join "Team Chitoge," "Team Onodera," or even "Team Tsugumi"! Most people are pretty sure about which one they prefer, even though I found all those girls equally great in their own way. The main male protagonist is pretty much a normal indecisive generic guy who is nice to the girls and only lets them beat him up when it makes them feel better, and I thought he was OK. The show's narrative hardly goes anywhere, and most of the episodes are mainly focused on some girl's interactions with the main male protagonist. This results in a lot of exaggeratedly illustrated romantic moments and various other emotional aspects that are delivered in such an over-the-top way that it should have been almost absurd, even though it is not. I often found myself smiling during the romantic moments which were so bright and sparkling that my eyes were crossed! There were so many moments where the girls were incredibly cute in some tense moment I lost count. Plus, I did not even mind the narrative's "killer pacing" or the fact that the "biggest twists" in both seasons were caused by the addition of another female character, which I liked despite her weaknesses. In other words, despite all the shortcomings it has, I am enjoying Nisekoi: False Love for the second season. Still, it is just a crush, not love, and therefore only four stars. Well, if I had to decide, it would probably be #TeamHarem.

Non Non Biyori - Repeat (2015) (season)

English I took this show at a leisurely pace of one or two episodes a week, and I slowly walked through the Japanese countryside again... This dosage is really ideal, and many times this anime series lifted my spirits, and other times it helped me to relax and be able to sleep after a hard day. Qualitatively, it is exactly the same as the first season, except at the beginning it feels like Renge is stealing most of the scenes for herself, which of course, given the fact that I adore this little girl, was no problem at all. Once again the best episode is the one that spends most of its time focusing on the relationship between little Renge and Kaede (who runs the Candy Store) and again shows this young woman at her most beautiful and in a very attractive light… Gradually, however, everything becomes more balanced, other characters get their own screen time, and the whole show is just very charming, pleasant, incredibly peaceful, adorable, and entertaining. 9.5/10.

Noragami - Aragoto (2015) (season)

English I must say I am still satisfied with this show. The characters have remained as interesting as ever, and most importantly, they have started to show us what I like most in characters - a fairly believable development. The narrative was quite good, and both the Bishamonten Arc and the Yato rescue mission of one of the Seven Gods of Fortune, Ebisu, were fascinating. Some interesting things were revealed, and the background of the "dark side" was revealed, which on the one hand, did not surprise me and, on the other hand, put a smile on my face. Otherwise, I liked the opening a lot too. I think Noragami Aragoto was a very nice addition to this year's releases, so "tonight we honor the hero!!" and I am going to award this show weak five stars. 8.5/10.

Omoi no kakera (2015)

English This is a nice story about how some things may change, but life still goes on regardless... Concerning the soundtrack and animation, it is quite good, and the narrative side is understated and quite endearing. However, it does not have much depth and is not as interesting as I had expected at times. The dramatic backdrop is rather hinted at (and if you do not know how it relates to a certain tragedy that happened in Japan, half of the message is lost) and it is so ordinary, human, sad - just like life. I personally found it was half an hour well spent, albeit only worth three stars. 6.3/10.

One Punch Man: Road to Hero (2015)

English One-Punch Man: Road to Hero is an anime-exclusive story set before the main story's events. The main male protagonist, Saitama, was not yet bald. However, he was already fighting criminals with his enormous strength. We are introduced to Saitama's tailor and learn how he came up with his special and unique costume. This OVA has roughly the same qualities as the full anime series and therefore is worth five stars as well. 9.5/10.

One-Punch Man - Season 1 (2015) (season)

English This show is absolutely brilliant! All the characters are great, including the main male protagonist, and his range of different expressions is just awesome, and there was no one that I did not like. The fight scenes are really pumped, plus the soundtrack is awesome and the narrative is jam-packed with cool ideas. In addition, it is also very funny!!! I should add that it has a great finále, even though I was worried about a certain fight scene (in other words "when one punch is not enough"), despite the fact that at the same time I was probably looking forward to it the most. I can say the guys from the Madhouse animation studio have smashed it yet again. The post-credits scene itself is really very good too, and so I have to say that I have just seen the perfect show - something I have not been able to say for a long time! 10/10.
