Slow Horses - Negotiating with Tigers (2023) (episode)

English The plot unfolded exactly as I anticipated, but the twist that followed caught me off guard, and that’s definitely a good thing. This was the most interesting and funniest episode of this season so far, even if I probably didn't enjoy it as much as the unpleasant (yet perfect) Jackson Lamb. Overall, it’s shaping up to my satisfaction. / Lesson learned: Accept the blows of fate (and life) with pride and resilience. 4*+

Slow Horses - Hard Lessons (2023) (episode)

English Jackson Lamb must be Gary Oldman's dream role — he seems to be having a blast. What bugged me, though, was that you don't need to be a genius like Jackson Lamb to figure out who's behind everything. The second episode laid it all out so clearly that there weren't any other possibilities. Unless there's a perfect plot twist coming to prove me wrong. Hmmm, can't see that happening. / Lesson learned: Giving a second chance to someone who physically attacked you? That's on you.

The Bequeathed - Episode 1 (2024) (episode)

English I was drawn to this Korean series by the promise of a strange inheritance, which totally appealed to my morbid side. Imagine my disappointment when that element was nowhere to be seen in the entire first episode. The plot didn't stand out much, and I can't say I got to know the characters well, except for the main heroine, the mayor, and Detective Choi. Fun fact: I've seen at least two other crime dramas featuring a detective named Choi. Coincidence? So, after the first episode, I'm sticking with my usual three-star starting rating. But I have to give props for the chilling atmosphere — it was spot on. / Lesson learned: Rice wine might be a risk in itself, but thallium? That's on another level.

Jim Jefferies: High n' Dry (2023) (shows)

English I had a good time and laughed a lot, but compared to the 2020 special Intolerant, this one fell short for me. It wasn't just the repeated jokes; overall, it felt less polished. So, why did I still go for a five-star rating despite my reservations? Greta's origin story absolutely floored me. The finale had me laughing out loud, and that alone was worth the rating. / Lesson learned: I could do without the details from the comedian's sex life. 5*--

Slow Horses - Strange Games (2023) (episode)

English If this had been the first episode of the whole series, I wouldn't have given it more than three stars. But since I've already gone through two seasons of Slow Horses, I added a fourth, albeit weaker, star. I'm expecting the third season to be as fun as the previous two. This episode had its weak moments, but the repeated bursts of subtle humor really hit the mark, and I'm looking forward to what's next. / Lesson learned: Alcohol is humanity's downfall. An alcoholic is the one doing all the heavy lifting so others can relax. 4*-

Jim Jefferies: Intolerant (2020) (shows)

English Seeing Jim Jefferies for the first time was quite an experience. Sure, he doesn't hold back on the expletives, but honestly, I didn't mind at all. It perfectly matched his unique style. Whether it's his Australian accent or his myriad of addictions, there's something about his delivery that's incredibly entertaining. But it's not just his style that stands out — his material is spot on. He goes after everything and everyone, including himself, leaving political correctness gasping for air in some dark corner. / Lesson learned: Be careful about what you applaud.

Bodkin (2024) (series)

English I wasn't expecting much from this series, and after the first two episodes, I felt pretty underwhelmed. But then, by episode three, things started to click. The story grabbed my attention, and I found myself really enjoying the quirky trio at the center. The pacing picked up, and I loved how it balanced serious moments with that unique Irish humor. Even from the pilot, though, I was hooked on the Irish English — it just added a great flavor. Sure, the show had its fair share of logical hiccups, but they didn't bug me too much. Despite the creators' slip-ups, I had a surprisingly good time watching it. / Lesson learned: Eel trafficking is a thing. Who would've guessed?

Bodkin - Empty Your Pockets (2024) (episode)

English The Irish creators really stuck the landing. They didn't cut corners, and they wrapped everything up pretty nicely. What I found really intriguing was how the lines between the villains and everyone else (journalists, Interpol, the wimp, and the rest) blurred over time. By the end, I couldn't even tell who the real bad guys were. I had a blast, though, thanks to the hilarious Irish-Romanian who probably won't hitchhike ever again, and the Irish Pied Piper. But I was a bit let down by the lackluster explosion — I was expecting something way more epic. / Lesson learned: Sing something catchy, and the crowd will follow.

Bodkin - Ends Justify Means (2024) (episode)

English I’m not usually a fan of episodes filled with hallucinations, but the creators pulled it off pretty well. The plot kept me hooked, the story moved forward, and two of the main characters are in even deeper trouble than before. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all wraps up and hoping the creators don’t take any silly shortcuts. Here’s to a solid finale! / Lesson learned: Never stand in front of a person who is throwing up.

Sisters (2015)

English What an experience... I was going to rate this a Boo!, but I'm a fan of Tina Fey so one star goes to her. My main issue with this film is that I'm completely over those "hilarious" American comedies about wild college parties. Paula Pell's brilliant idea to replace college kids with adults in the same setting just turned it into a boring and cringeworthy watch for me. To save my brain cells, I had to repeatedly hit the fast-forward button, which made the experience somewhat bearable. / Lesson learned: If the funniest and most likable character in a comedy is played by John Cena, there’s probably something wrong.
