Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

English Every year I see dozens of films in the cinema and many more at home, and only some of the new ones leave me with the feeling that I've watched something special; something that will be talked about in ten years. Fortunately, Mad Max: Fury Road is one of those. The trailers didn't bullshit, this is a brutal action ride from start to finish. When George Miller said his film was going to be one big chase, he wasn't lying. Even more interesting than the action itself, however, which is exquisite, thrilling and visually original, is what surrounds it. The director of Happy Feet has managed to make a new Mad Max that must satisfy fans of the trilogy and newcomers alike. Fury Road is an almost physically uncomfortable film. Whereas other post-apocalyptic films usually have clearly defined good and evil, here there is only madness, and thanks to some of the characters (Nicholas Hoult gets a career-best role) it's almost palpable. It's a cruel world with bizarre rules, fascinating and repulsive at the same time. Good doesn't exist, evil doesn't exist either, all that's left is a fierce fight for survival. And you will be right in the middle of it. Mad Max grabs you at the beginning, then thrills you, disgusts you, horrifies you and fascinates you all the time. And by the end of it, you'll feel like you've seen something special. Not just entertaining or interesting, but truly exceptional.

Superbad (2007)

English It is not gratuitously vulgar, it is funny as hell and affably sensitive at the end. An excellent script that isn't afraid to go for the absurd at times, but mostly keeps it pretty real and believable. The film has well written and acted characters and it’s generally a terrible pleasure to watch. I'm looking forward to giving this one a second go. Much more entertaining than Knocked Up for me personally.

Kingdom (2007)

English Total satisfaction. Peter Berg serves up an interesting story that looks at the issues of the Western and Arab worlds in a quite clever way. Visually, the film is top notch from the first to the last second, Jamie Foxx is superb, and the final action set-piece is something that makes you want to take cover from bullets. I can't wait to see it again.

Clerks II (2006)

English In the case of Clerks 2, the return to roots is not just an empty concept, because this is not another Mallrats or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Maybe that's why I had a problem with the lower cadence of the jokes at the beginning, but once I tuned into the pace of the film, which, like the first, features completely serious dialogue alongside the brilliant jokes, Kevin Smith had me right where he wanted. In short, the return to Jersey was a success. Jay and Bob are at it again, Randall is talking like hell, and Dante has put on some weight. It's funny, it's clever, it's touching and it's exactly what Smith fans have been waiting for. And if this bunch returns in a few years, I'll definitely be there again.

Infernal Affairs (2002)

English Internal Affairs offers everything that every five-star film should have. A gripping story, well-written and well acted characters, good music and great direction. It would be a mistake not to it.

Tango & Cash (1989)

English Call me names, hit me, insult me, but this is the best action comedy I've ever seen. The only competition for me is The Last Boy Scout. But this one is different. A tribute to crappy movies with great lines, crazy action, perfect cast, and fun from the first to the last minute.

The Thing (1982)

English I'll admit this one got me. As always, great atmosphere (I managed to nibble on the Encyclopedia of Fantastic Film while watching it), decent Morricone music, a pretty good Kurt Russell, really good visual effects for its time and above all a brilliant ending. I love this movie!

Shakespeare in Love (1998)

English A perfect comedy that is sure to entertain even after several viewings. Gwyneth Paltrow and Geoffrey Rush are great, but above all the film doesn't pretend to be anything "big". It's just terribly enjoyable.

Clerks (1994)

English The best debut ever! Perfectly timed scenes, iconic catchphrases, Jay and Silent Bob, and one incredibly stupid day in the life of two salesmen. This isn't a movie, this is life!
