Sonthar Gyal

Sonthar Gyal is a Chinese scriptwriter and director born in the region of Tibet. He's been engaged in painting, making dozens of works of art using ancient Buddhist Thangkha techniques. As his interest in film grew, he graduated from the Beijing Film Academy and subsequently became part of the first-generation of Tibetan film-makers. He made his successful full-length format debut with the road movie The Sun Beaten Path (Tai yang zong zai zuo bian, 2011).
