Biography
Born in 1964 in Isparta, Turkey, he began workingat an early age in a textile workshop. He was imprisonedwithout trial at the age of 17 for allegedcommunist activities. His 1997 film Masumiyet (Innocence) screened in Venice, and (The Third Page, 1999) in Locarno and Rotterdam.The films Yazgi (Fate, 2001) and İtiraf (Confession,2002) are part of his Tales of Darkness trilogy andwere shown at the Cannes Film Festival the sameyear.
