Biography (1)
Spanish filmmaker and screenwriter, he began his career working as an actor and touring through Europe in a theater company. He then went on to act in Mexican films until the late 1940s, when his career gravitated towards screenwriting. He is best known for his work with famed director Luis Buñuel on classics such as Los olvidados. Alcoriza became a director himself in the early 1960s, but his films, though popular in Mexico, are little known elsewhere.
